A guide to the levels
A short summary to help you assess your own English level before you get in touch.
Level A
· Basic userDevelop basic vocabulary, simple grammar and useful phrases — a solid grounding for further study.
A2 Elementary
Can understand sentences and common expressions related to immediate needs. Can communicate in simple, routine tasks that require a straightforward exchange of information on familiar topics.
Level B
· Independent userStrengthen communication with more confidence, fluency and accuracy — on familiar and some abstract topics.
B1 Intermediate
Can understand the main points of clear, standard input on familiar matters. Can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
B2 Upper Intermediate
Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, and interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity.
Level C
· Proficient userMaster advanced English for complex communication, fluency and nuance.
C1 Advanced
Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, recognise implicit meaning, and express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
C2 Proficient
Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read, and express themselves spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning.
Fees
All fees are given in Swiss francs (CHF).

- A semester runs February–July and August–January, excluding school holidays.
- You can join a group mid-semester — the fee is reduced for late entry.
- Reduced rates apply to seniors, students and couples.
